Jekyll and Hyde

Clean version .jpg

For my Jekyll and Hyde cover design I had a pretty clear idea in mind of how I wanted it to look, but I still did several composition ideas so I could explore other ideas first. In the end I did choose the idea that I had envisioned, the design including the rats as a reference to the scientific process Jekyll went through to create Hyde, and the duality of the identities explored in the narrative in the two versions of the rat.

I also did an end page pattern for this book, using potion bottles as the central focus, as a reference to the concoction that Jekyll drinks to create Hyde. This is not one of my favourite repeating patterns, but it does go well with the cover art and reflects the themes of the narrative in its iconography and colour palette.
