JAne Eyre

Untitled_Artwork 13.jpg

For my Jane Eyre cover art I started off with sketching out how I wanted Jane to look, I then looked as sketching Thornfield Hall, Bertha Mason ( Rochester’s first wife)  and the clothes of the time period that a governess like Jane would have worn, so that my designs would be accurate to the time in which the novel is set. I then went on to the composition ideas and once I decided which I liked best I developed the linework for the final artwork.

I then went onto the end page pattern whilst I considered colour palettes for the cover. I did many patterns before I settled on the final one featuring the bluebells and lily of the valley, which both represent themes of the narrative in Victorian flower language. When I had finished the end page patterns I had decided on my colour palette for the cover art so I coloured the final artwork and refined it in Photoshop.
